About Me

I started and operate Menagerie Maid, LLC because I am owned by, and the maid to, four parrots and four cats. Though it is fairly easy to get someone to agree to come in and care for your cats, try to find someone qualified and willing to care for your birds in their own home!

After diligent research, I rapidly realized there was a need in our community for quality in-home pet care. Sure, there are places where cats and dogs can be boarded, and even one great Avian Vet that will board birds, but an experienced pet care provider that will care for your baby in the comfort and safety of its own home is a rare commodity indeed, particularly in the Tacoma area.

All of our ‘Fildren’ are rescues and have taken over my heart and home. I’ve included photos of each on the website. Here are their statistics so you can figure out which one is which. Tara, my Blue and Gold Macaw, is 17. Chili, a Hahn’s mini Macaw, is 9. Patrick, my male Eclectus just turned 7. Simon is my Congo African Grey and he’s just over three years old. Though all of my birds talk, Simon teaches me the most about myself through his uncanny vocal ability.

Our cats are special treasures too. Romeow is a Flame Point Siamese and 10 years old. Mewliette is a Ragdoll and just turned 8. Sadie and Sophie (the twins) are Seal Point Siamese are 5. Sadie is the only one of our kitties that talks our ears off.

In case you missed it, our animals are our “Fildren” (furry or feathered children). Our home is set up for the comfort of all eight of them. We move the birds with us from room to their assorted play areas around the house. They have, however, taken over the upstairs master bedroom as their own at bedtime and when I am not at home. The room has their cages, Ott lights on timers, as well as TV and radio for their amusement. The cats also have a room of their own, but roam the entire house as they wish. We are occasionally allowed to sit on the couch with them. We’ve even added a cat-safe deck that’s about 20 X 18 for their enjoyment. I get the concept of animals being family and family being animals and will treat yours according to the specifications you give me at our initial meeting.

I am very experienced with birds and have owned and cared for many assorted varieties. Who could resist a chattering ‘tiel or a cage of charming ‘keets? Companion pets like cats and dogs have been in my life since I was a tiny girl. In fact, I was raised on a farm where we bred German Sheppard puppies, and actually know how to feed and care for horses and cows as well. Though I will care for other companion pets like hampster and fish, I draw the line when it comes to snakes. I won’t enter a house that has them. I consider my ability to care for, and love on, animals as an occupation a privilege and look forward to the opportunity to care for yours.

The last thing I can tell you about Menagerie Maid is that I do Domestic Errands. If you aren’t sure how domestic errands could benefit you, try these examples:

What if you are going on vacation and would really like not only your pets cared for, but also want mail and newspapers brought in, and plants watered? (Can you really rely on the neighbor to keep your plants thoroughly watered?)
Maybe you even want fresh groceries and your house aired out before you get home.
What if you have to be at work all day, but your washing machine is broken and Sears wants someone home between noon and 2 pm in order to fix it?

Simple, hire Menagerie Maid to wait while you work!

My domestic “Errands” concept easily handles all of these things.
There is no domestic errand that I won’t at least consider so please ask!
